Athletics Update

January was the month of district championship tournaments for varsity winter sports teams. All teams were going through the fine tuning process of preparing to "win or go home". Soccer was kicking its way through a three game winning streak to close out January. Senior Jensen Wilhelm has been at the helm for the entire season in leading the defense and the offense. Coach Kahler has the team headed in the right direction. Shut down goalie, PJ Jackson, has been very stingy in making sure the ball stays out of the net. We recently celebrated Senior night and wish our graduating seniors much success! Thanks to the soccer team for the exciting season!

Middle School Girls Basketball has been gaining the respect of the HCA sports community with their exciting play and aggressive team effort. Head Coach Sellers has the team playing fearless on the court. These ladies are currently on a six game winning streak. Middle School Boys Basketball have also been on a role. Coach Garrett and Coach Barnett have the troops at the right place at the right time on the court. James Neilsen has been instrumental in helping the team maintain a four game win streak.

Varsity Girls Basketball has had some struggles this year. A lot of new young ladies, with limited experience, are paying their dues on the court. The ladies are working hard in trying to get ready for the district tournament at the end of the season. The Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Moore has the team gaining momentum in its last three weeks of the basketball season. Strong middle play from Carson Hedick, Matthew Biel, and Ethan Higgins are helping the men's basketball team improve. Guard's Jaden Montzka and Caydon Williams are steering the ball in the right direction.

The softball and baseball teams have recently begun preparations and practice for the upcoming seasons. Thank you for your dedication and support to the athletics at HCA. Go Lions!
